Festa Schedule 2010 (Post #1)

The long-awaited day has finally arrived - Saturday, 26th June 2010 - and Radju Leħen il-Qala has started airing with its Festa 2010 Schedule. This will be the longest schedule ever for this period of time - 7 weeks, with the largest number of programmes - 80, and the biggest RLQ crew ever - approx. 100 volunteers. For the first time ever the front page of the schedule will be printed in full colour with the whole schedule booklet occupying around 72 pages.

We would like to encourage you all, especially our dear emigrants, to participate in all our programmes by either phoning in on (+356) 21 558 556, sending sms' on 5061 2222, through our email address request@radjulehenil-qala.com or through our facebook page. We would gladly receive all your comments and pass on your messages to your dearest living here in Qala. After all, this is the main aim of our radio station that of connecting people all over the world.

Last but not least, on behalf of the administration of RLQ, we would like to thank all those who have helped in the preparations of this year's Festa schdeule - all those who contributed on the design, proof reading and printing of the schedule, all the presenters, technicians and producers of the various programmes and all our sponsors.

Ad Multos Annos Djk Krystof Buttigieg

On behalf of the administration and equipe of Radju Leħen il-Qala, we would like to congratulate Krystof Buttigieg for furthering with his studies and preparations in the Gozo Seminary and next Sunday, 20th June 2010, he will be ordained as a deacon from the hands of Bishop Mario Grech. The concelebration live from the Gozo Cathedral will be aired on RLQ and is scheduled to start at 18:30.

RLQ Equipe Meeting June 2010

Would like to take this opportunity through this blog post to thank all those who attended the preparatory meeting held today, Sunday 13th June 2010. The meeting, whose main item on the agenda was the Festa 2010 Schedule, served also for the administration to update the equipe with all the activities of RLQ. Thanks also to all those others who could not attend but will be also contributing in he upcoming schedule. Your co-operation and enthusiasm makes our job easier.

Dun Lawrenz Theuma's book "Il-Qala Matul iż-Żminijiet" now available from RLQ

During the special interview that Ivan Cefai conducted with Dun Lawrenz Theuma on 2nd April 2010 for the occasion of the 50 years from his ordination, Dun Lawrenz talked about his upcoming book publication. Now, RLQ is pleased to announce that the book Il-Qala Matul iż-Żminijiet is now available for sale. This 545 page book is written in Maltese and is full with detailed information about the history of Qala together with historic pictures. A vast amount of topics are covered ... from the origins of Qala, to the buildings of the Immaculate Conception Sancturay and the Qala Parish Church, Qala in the World Wars, the various memorable celebrations and much more.

Peeks to the Festa Schedule 2010 .. #6

Can't wait for the weekend to come around in order to reveal the peeks #6. So here it is now:

First programme to be announced in this blog entry is Rewind presented by Franklin Vella. Franklin will take the listeners back in time and give us some of the most popular songs of all times.

Rewind ... bringing back all the great hits you grew up listening to!!

Charles Portelli and Tagħna f'Tagħna are back for another schedule on 106.3FM. It is important that wherever you go, you always keep in mind from where you originally come from. During these 90 minutes, Charles will provide us with music from local artists. If its Wintermoods, Ira Losco, Chasing Pandora, Freddie Portelli, The Tramps, Chiara, Sammy Bartolo, Philip Vella, Enzo Guzman, The Greenfields, Mike Spiteri and many more, these are all talented Maltese singers.

What do you do if you have bleeding or burns? Do you know how to carry out basic first aid? Want to get more information on CPR? Chelsi Cefai and Noella Mifsud with the collaboration of the Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch will be presenting the programme L-Ewwel Għajnuna and answering these questions and many more.

Apart from entertaining and musical programmes, one of the most important pillars for a RLQ schedule are the religious programmes. Wilġa Bibblika produced and presented by Fr Charles Buttigieg surely has a time slot in the upcoming schedule. During this programme Fr Charles will share with our listeners interesting facts and analysis from the Holy Scripture.

Apart from this, other

programmes that fall under this category are the daily morning prayer slot Maż-Żernieq fit-Talb, the daily thoughts - Il-Ħsieb tal-Jum - by Dun Mikiel Borg and the daily slot about a

particular saint - Il-Knisja Tfakkar Illum - with Mary Josette

Xerri. Of course, the holy rosary will be aired at 5.30am, 6.30pm and 12.00am together with three masses a day - 5am, 7.15am and 7pm. Moreover, at 6pm from Monday to Saturday the programme Nirriflettu Ftit will be presented by different presenters to help the listeners prepare themselves for the evening mass.

Peeks to the Festa Schedule 2010 .. #5

Hi all!! Hope that everybody is enjoying the weekend but now it's time for peek #5 .. let's see which programmes we are going to reveal next.

We'll start by introducing the fresh new slot for Qomna Jew?! daily breakfast show, Konċiż. Chelsi Cefai will provide our listeners a 5-minute informative slot about interesting facts to help us increase our general knowledge. Konċiż .. the Maltese term for saying "in brief".

For women, most especially, it is important to keep themselves look and feel beautiful through taking care of their skin, hair, hands, feet; applying make up according to their facial features and so on. Angelica Cefai will be giving out some beauty tips during The Beauty Corner ... because beauty has no limits!!

And back again for yet another schedule are RLQ's duo Savio Portelli and Ivan Cefai with their programme S&I. This fun-filled programme with some good music for their listeners intertwined with humour is back on Wednesday nights. Last summer, RLQ listeners got know two interesting male characters: Ċisju and Desmond. Will there be a comeback??

One more peek for today ... Dr Raymond C Xerri will be once again producing and presenting O Żmien Ħelu. Taking our listeners back in time, we will rediscover some facts that were once the everyday norm and by now either they are forgotten or few of us remember them. These are what make the Maltese and Gozitan culture and its a real pity if we loose our own identity, traditions and ways of living. O Żmien Ħelu .. fejn int ?
