Immaculate Conception and Christmas Schedule 2010 - #8
For the third consecutive year, the RLQ choir launches its annual Christmas song for this festive season. This year we gave it an interesting twist by writing our own lyrics to a chosen song. This year's song is Xewqat Sbieħ with music of Merry Christmas Everyone and lyrics by Sammy Meylaq (scroll down). A behind the scenes video taken during rehearsals is also posted down here.

Christmas Photo Fun 2010
Sunday, 12th December 2010 marked the first activity that Radju Leħen il-Qala prepared as part of the 15th birthday celebrations of our community radio stations. Children, students, adults and families attended the Christmas Photo Fun 2010. Amongst the activities held there was a photo session with Father Christmas and Mother Christmas with a free gift given to kids, bouncing castle, pony rides, face painting, sweets & drinks and car wash.
On behalf of the RLQ Administration, we would like to thank all those who participated in this event. Special thanks goes to all our helpers: Sabrina Azzopardi, Valerie Mejlak, Frankie Ion Magro, Charlie Muscat, Frans Azzopardi, Marcell Mejlaq, Maurice Grima, Chelsi Cefai, Krystof Buttigieg, John Paul Cefai, Joseph Michael Cefai, Charlie Borg, Stella Curmi, Rose Camilleri, Guza Xerri, J&B Supermarket, Qala Local Council and RLQ Crew. It was truly a fantastic event enjoyed by lots.

Particularly for those who missed the procession of the Immaculate Conception, here is the recorded session of the procession taken by the wireless video streaming. Immaculate Conception and Christmas Schedule 2010 - #1
And time flies by very quickly… It seems like it wasn’t that long ago that we were doing the Festa 2010 schedule, which by the way was the most amazing schedule ever. Now December has approached and that means it’s time for the last schedule for the year – Immaculate Conception Feast and Christmas Schedule 2010.
This schedule is probably one of the hardest to prepare and to complete since all the RLQ crew members are busy with school, studies or work. Thus, we are more than grateful that we managed to gather the necessary human resources to come up with this schedule.
So, next Saturday is the kick-off to this year’s schedule. We promise you that we did everything possible to keep you entertained during the coming festive season with all the programs that we have for you. As per usual we have a large selection of programs from where to choose from - musical, religious, cultural, magazines, sports, current affairs, discussions … - some that you got acquainted to and others brand new for this schedule. Amongst the new programs in this schedule we have:
- Siegha Ghana mal-Basli that airs live every Sunday afternoon with Raymond Buttigieg,
- Il-Qala f’Dicembru with Frans Ghirxi every Friday at 4pm,
- Euchar Mizzi will produce and present two brand new programs for this schedule, L-Istorja Kif Ghexta Jien with readings from the book by Advocate Herbert Ganado and Mixja ma’ Gesu’ fl-Art Imqaddsa about the parish pilgrim to the Holy Land the was done last Summer
- Sport Connection with our sport journalists Kenny Grima and Marcell Meylaq for all the weekly evaluation from the sports section every Saturday afternoon
These were just to mention a few of them.

Festa Schedule (Post #5) - Happy Feast
Today, we are reaching the climax of our festa and the main reason behind preparing this Festa Schedule 2010.
Hope that you are enjoying our live commentaries from our OB at the Qala Square together with the help of the live webcam streaming and thank you for participating in all our programmes. Remember that this year's schedule is not going to end today - Sunday, 1st August - but we still got another week ahead to keep you entertained with our programmes.

Festa Schedule 2010 (Post #4) - Happy 14th Birthday RLQ
Yesterday, Sunday 25th July 2010, on the occasion of the 14th year from which Radju Lehen il-Qala started broadcasting, RLQ held a competition bonanza for all its listeners throughout all the live programmes of the day - Qomna Jew, Muzikomania, Only Country, Ilwien Muzikali.
The question consisted of the listeners trying to guess how many steps are there when you walk along the coastline from Hondoq ir-Rummien bay in Qala to Dwejra, San Lawrenz if you take the path from Tac-Cawl, Imgarr, Xatt l-Ahmar, Imgarr ix-Xini, Ta' Cenc cliffs, Xlendi, Ghadira ta' San Raflu - Kercem and finally Dwejra. A total of 210 participants took part in this competition either by phoning in or through sms.
The correct answer - that of 31, 156 steps - was announced this morning at 9.15am during RLQ's breakfast-show Qomna Jew. Below is a table that shows the closest three participants and the winner of €50 voucher from Arcadia Ltd, Gozo with special thanks goes to Antoine Portelli.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who contributed in RLQ's success during the past 14 years, from the very beginning to the present day. Thank you also to all the benefactors that contribute financially to the running of this community radio station.

Webcam on/off
The issue about the the webcam working and sometimes not working is because currently we are testing the possibilities of a camera that would allow unlimited number of persons accessing the camera at the same time. The current system allows for a maximum number of around 16 users to access the camera at the same time. Therefore, for the festa time it would be quite unfair for the 17th and 18th .... user as they would not be allowed to access the webcam and will be displayed with an error message of overcapacity. Moreover, those 16 users would have a very slow service.
We apologize for any inconvenience encountered but this is all being done to offer you a better service.

Festa Schedule 2010 (Post #3) - 1063 Weekend
Thank you for the massive 1063 Weekend
It was surely a huge success thanks to all the helpers, sponsors, the donations and the presence of a lot of people during all activities (car wash, foorball tournament, BBQ, All Night Long, Pre-World Cup Final Game 2010, Tombola Night and watching the World Cup Final Game at the Qala Square). The total amount of money raised during the 10-11th July weekend was the wonderful sum of €2339. This money will go to pay the last few pending ċedoli.

Festa Schedule 2010 (Post #1)
The long-awaited day has finally arrived - Saturday, 26th June 2010 - and Radju Leħen il-Qala has started airing with its Festa 2010 Schedule. This will be the longest schedule ever for this period of time - 7 weeks, with the largest number of programmes - 80, and the biggest RLQ crew ever - approx. 100 volunteers. For the first time ever the front page of the schedule will be printed in full colour with the whole schedule booklet occupying around 72 pages.
We would like to encourage you all, especially our dear emigrants, to participate in all our programmes by either phoning in on (+356) 21 558 556, sending sms' on 5061 2222, through our email address request@radjulehenil-qala.com or through our facebook page. We would gladly receive all your comments and pass on your messages to your dearest living here in Qala. After all, this is the main aim of our radio station that of connecting people all over the world.
Last but not least, on behalf of the administration of RLQ, we would like to thank all those who have helped in the preparations of this year's Festa schdeule - all those who contributed on the design, proof reading and printing of the schedule, all the presenters, technicians and producers of the various programmes and all our sponsors.

Ad Multos Annos Djk Krystof Buttigieg
On behalf of the administration and equipe of Radju Leħen il-Qala, we would like to congratulate Krystof Buttigieg for furthering with his studies and preparations in the Gozo Seminary and next Sunday, 20th June 2010, he will be ordained as a deacon from the hands of Bishop Mario Grech. The concelebration live from the Gozo Cathedral will be aired on RLQ and is scheduled to start at 18:30.
